It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Andy, patriarch of our first clan of rabbits, has died. He had just turned 3 years old.
His death was most likely due to heat stroke. According to my personal weather station, it was 95°F in the shade and 49% humidity at noon today – that’s a heat index of 100°F. Rex fur is dense and plush, so despite being in the shade, having ample water, and having good air circulation around and through his hutch, this temperature proved too much.
Sometimes, despite your best efforts, things go wrong.
(Tex is hot, but okay.)
