Wind's Four Quarters Farm

Biodynamic, Sustainable, and Regenerative Farming for the 21st Century

New Year, New Goals

A pallet of blow-in cellulose insulation has collapsed against the rear of the vehicle towing the trailer.
What happens when the top row of bales is not wrapped, the bottom row only has one layer of wrap, you trust your strap to hold it all in place, and then almost skid into an intersection because of the snow and ice? Fortunately, none of the bags ended up in the road or broke.

It’s been a long time since I gave my website much attention. You can expect to see some changes this year!

A lot has happened during the last two years. While I could never hope to recap it all, some of the important things include:

  • Severed the ACL in my right knee. This has to wait on being able to move into the house before I can get surgery for it.
  • Acquired a breeding pair of American Guinea Hogs in late 2023. I had a litter in 2024, but in 2025, Mama Cass (the sow) never got pregnant. I’m expecting a litter in 2026, sometime in the next month or so!
  • Got the house enclosed:
    • Roof in 2024 (working on the roof is how I injured my knee).
    • Straw bale walls and exterior stucco in 2025.
    • Electricity in 2025.
  • Learned more about myself, what makes me happy, and what is most important to me, and learned how to set better goals for achieving happiness.
  • Changed jobs: I left Idaho State University and returned to private industry, in part in pursuit of the aforementioned happiness.
  • Established three flocks of breeding and laying partridge chantecler chickens.
  • Published seven fiction books on Amazon, with an eighth on the way.

A few of the items on this year’s agenda:

  • Resume the Blackfoot Farmers’ Market. This year, it will be held in Jensen Grove so we don’t have to turn away vendors due to a non-compete clause with our prior venue.
  • Fill most of Plot 1 with vegetables for my and my family’s consumption and to sell at the Market.
  • Move into the house and get ACL replacement surgery.
  • Publish an updated version of the Farm Paper.
  • Manage my website better!

I look forward to hearing from and seeing you all this year!
