They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. So what does that make housework?
Although housework is an utterly plebeian topic, we had a couple of interesting visitors to liven up the day.
Left/Top: After a minor run-in with the picture window, this juvenile male ruby-throated hummingbird perched on the crooks that hold some of the bird feeders – but not the one with the hummingbird feeder! He earned Squeak’s undivided attention when he bumped into the window right in front of her face.
Right/Bottom: Every year, I have at least one downy woodpecker that thinks the bricks on the front of the house must hold a fantastic Picoides buffet, and every year, they fly away disappointed (I’m pretty sure they’re juveniles each year – their plumage is not as sleek). This one also tried his luck on the plastic shell of the bird feeder, although I think he eventually found the eating holes and got some reward for his enthusiasm.
